5 Skin Care Lessons We Learnt From Jada Pinkett Smith


49-year-old Jada Pinkett Smith is a wonder to behold, and is, in a word, goals. For years fans have salivated over her youthful appearance, wondering exactly what the actress does that keeps her looking so fresh. In a YouTube video, she finally opened up about her skincare regime. Here is Jada Pinkett Smith skin care:


1. Steaming Is Key

Jada explains that her biggest secret is steaming. She does it at least three times a week. But she doesn’t go to a steaming room especially for that. She simply does it at home. She boils some water and making sure it’s not too hot, pours it into a bowl. Positioning her face over the bowl, she drapes a towel over her head to make sure the steam doesn’t escape. Doing this for a few minutes helps her pores open up and let go of impurities. This process also helps keep the skin moisturized.


2. Cleanse, But Gently

Now that the pores are open and clean, she uses the Tatcha Deep Cleanser, which is a deep cleanser, but very gentle on the skin. From there, she moves on to steaming again and then using the Precleanse by Dermatologica. This is a very light oil that preps her skins for the microdermabrasion machine, Kendra Professional HB-SF01, which removes dead skin. If you don’t want to buy the machine, you can simply use a towel to gently buff out the dead skin cells. Then, she steams again and puts on a face mask.

3. Moisturizers and Serums

Jada favors Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Hyaluronic Acid Ampoules. Hyaluronic acid is a blessing when it comes to hydrating the skin, as it pulls water to the skin’s surface through its humectant qualities. Simply pour the formula into your palms and pat it onto your skin. It helps eliminate fine lines by firming up your skin and replaces moisture. Jada loves this treatment so much she claims you’ll end up looking like you just got off a 2-week spa vacation. Since Jada spends a lot of time in the sun, she uses the serum to protect her skin. 4. Live By Sunscreen

Jada has spoken about this in her Instagram lives. She always wears sunscreen and makes good use of lots of hats to protect herself from the sun. Though some sun is good for the skin, even required, when you’re someone who has to spend a lot of time outside, sunscreen is a requirement, even in the winter, and it helps prevent fine lines. Experts recommend hyaluronic acid and ceramides.

5. Hydrate

Do you want to maintain a hydrated complexion? There’s no easy way around it. Drink your fluids. Hydrate or die-drate. Jada explains that she drinks a lot of water, around eight to nine bottles in one day. She also explains that she doesn’t drink alcohol or sugary drinks. What you put in your body matters as much as what you put on it, which means eating well too.
